About
Hi, I’m Sophie
About Tide & Zinc
Made for days in the sea.
Tide & Zinc was born from a simple idea: create a mineral zinc balm that feels good to use, looks good in your surf bag and is made with ingredients you can recognise.
Living by the Cornish coast means spending as much time as possible outside. Whether it’s surfing before work, swimming through winter, paddleboarding, hiking the coastline or simply enjoying long beach days, the sun is always part of the adventure.
After years of using brightly coloured zincs full of ingredients we don't always recognise and plastic packaging, I wanted to create something different. Something that reflected the slower pace of coastal living and the places that inspired it.
That’s how Tide & Zinc began.
Inspired by Cornwall
Every Tide & Zinc balm is inspired by the Cornish coastline.
The colours of each balm reflect the landscape around us.
🤍 Bare Zinc keeps things simple.
💚 Coastal Mint is inspired by fresh coastal botanicals.
💜 Sea Lavender takes its colour from the wild flowers that grow along our cliffs.
🤎 Cacao Zinc brings warm earthy tones with a hint of chocolate.
Small details matter. From the reusable aluminium tins to the carefully selected natural ingredients, every decision has been made with simplicity and longevity in mind.
Simple ingredients
I believe skincare doesn’t need to be complicated.
That’s why I focus on ingredients you can recognise, carefully blending mineral zinc with nourishing oils, waxes and botanical ingredients to create a balm that’s enjoyable to wear and easy to apply.
No unnecessary extras.
Just simple ingredients, thoughtfully chosen.
Don’t Bin The Tin
One of the things I'm most proud of is the reusable aluminium tins.
Rather than throwing them away, I encourage you to keep them in use for as long as possible. Return your empty tin and you’ll receive a discount on your next purchase, helping reduce waste while keeping your favourite zinc ready for another adventure.
Because the best packaging is the packaging that’s used again.
